TDAC After a Flight Change: What Travellers Should Know
If your flight to Thailand changes — whether due to cancellation, rescheduling, airline rebooking, or a new booking with a different carrier — your Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) may require attention. The TDAC is tied to your planned arrival details, including your flight number and scheduled date of entry. A change in those details does not automatically invalidate your TDAC, but it can affect its alignment with immigration records upon arrival.
This article addresses what you need to know specifically about TDAC after a flight change. It reflects only verified facts from the official process. No assumptions, interpretations, or predictions are made beyond what is confirmed in the public guidance.
Does a flight change require a new TDAC?
The official portal does not state that a flight change *always* requires submission of a new TDAC. However, because the TDAC collects your intended flight number and arrival date, significant discrepancies between your submitted TDAC and actual travel documents may cause delays or questions at immigration. For example:
In such cases, immigration officers may request clarification or verification. While the TDAC itself is not “rejected” for mismatched flights, consistency supports smoother processing.
- Your original TDAC lists flight TG921 arriving on 15 May, but you now arrive on flight PG842 on 16 May.
- You were rebooked into a different class or terminal without notification to immigration systems.
- Your arrival date shifts outside the 3-day submission window relative to your new flight.
When must you submit a new TDAC?
You must submit a new TDAC if your new arrival date falls outside the valid submission window. The TDAC must be submitted within 3 days before arrival. If your flight change moves your arrival to a date more than 3 days after your original TDAC submission, that TDAC expires and is no longer valid. You cannot reuse it.
For example:
No extension or modification of an existing TDAC is possible. Each TDAC is a one-time submission tied to a specific arrival window.
- You submitted a TDAC on 10 May for arrival on 12 May (valid: within 3 days).
- Your flight is changed to 17 May — your original TDAC is no longer valid, as 10 May is more than 3 days before 17 May.
- You must submit a new TDAC between 14–16 May inclusive.
What if your flight changes but your arrival date stays the same?
If your flight number changes but your arrival date remains unchanged and still falls within the 3-day window, you are not required to submit a new TDAC. The TDAC does not mandate real-time flight updates, and the system does not offer an edit function.
However, to reduce potential friction at immigration, consider submitting a new TDAC with your updated flight number. This ensures your digital record matches your boarding pass and airline manifest. Doing so is optional but recommended when the new flight number differs significantly (e.g., switching carriers or flight codes).
How to submit a new TDAC
To submit a new TDAC, go directly to the official portal: https://tdac.immigration.go.th. There is no login or account system — each submission is independent and anonymous.
You will re-enter all required information: passport details, contact information, accommodation address in Thailand, flight number, and arrival date/time. Double-check spelling, dates, and numbers before final submission.
Note: The official portal does not charge a fee. If you choose to use a third-party service like ours, applythaicard.com, we provide a simplified interface and email confirmation support for $15 per traveller. We are an independent application service, not affiliated with the Royal Thai Government or the Immigration Bureau. We do not determine eligibility, approve applications, or influence processing outcomes.
What about connecting flights or multiple entries?
The TDAC applies to each arrival in Thailand — even if you enter more than once during a single trip (e.g., flying Bangkok → Chiang Mai → Bangkok). Each entry requires its own TDAC, submitted within 3 days before that specific arrival.
If your flight change results in a stopover or transit that becomes a formal entry (e.g., clearing immigration in Bangkok before a domestic flight), you must have a TDAC matching that first point of entry. The official portal does not define “transit” vs. “arrival” — if you pass through immigration control, you are considered an arrival and require a TDAC.
Important limitations of this guidance
This article reflects only the facts listed in our source block. It does not cover visa requirements, health declarations, customs rules, or entry conditions based on nationality — all of which remain governed by Thai immigration law and may change without notice.
We do not provide legal advice. We do not guarantee TDAC approval, acceptance at the border, or entry into Thailand. Approval rests solely with Thai immigration authorities. If your circumstances involve complex travel patterns (e.g., dual citizenship, prior refusals, long stays), consult the official portal or contact the Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate in your country.
